How to make the easiest Brazil Nut Butter
INGREDIENTS
Brazil Nuts. For this recipe, we use raw and organic Brazil Nuts, a pantry essential. You can use salted nuts, but we recommend buying them raw and unsalted and simply adding a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor of your nut butter.
Pinch of salt. We like adding a pinch of sea salt to our nut butter as we use unsalted nuts. This is totally optional but we think that it enhances the true flavors of the nuts.
STEP-BY-STEP METHOD
Making your own delicious nut butter at home is really simple but it requires a little patience. For the Brazil Nuts to release the natural oils they contain, they need to be blended in a food processor for some minutes. Trust me, all you need to make the creamiest butter is Brazil Nuts, a food processor, and a little patience.
- Spread the raw Brazil Nuts on a baking tray.
- Roast the Brazil Nuts for about 7-8 minutes at 150 C (300F) and leave them to cool for about 5-10 minutes. At this point, you can try removing some of the skins as they will come off easily. This is optional.
- Add the roasted nuts to the food processor with a pinch of salt.
- Start blending the Brazil Nuts. You will first get nut flour, which is basically really fine grounded Brazil Nuts. Simply keep blending!
- Next thing, the nuts will start the oil separation process and they will form a kind of dough. Open the food processor, and with a spatula make sure to scrape down the sides of the jug. Keep blending and mixing the Brazil Nut butter every 2-3 minutes to avoid the processor from overheating. The blending process from roasted whole nuts to a smooth and creamy nut butter could take about 15 minutes, so just be patient. The longer you blend your nuts, the smoother butter you will get.
- Once you have creamy and smooth Brazil nut butter, transfer it to a sterilized airtight glass container and enjoy or store it in the fridge for later.

How to Store Homemade Brazil Nut Butter
Homemade Brazil Nut Butter needs to be stored in the fridge, using a glass jar. Don't worry if the oil separates, simply give it a good stir before you use it. Once you spread the Brazil nut butter, you will see that the texture changes and gets creamier. If you keep your nut butter at room temperature, the oils may go bad a lot earlier than if keeping the natural butter in the fridge.
To ensure that your nut butter stays fresh for about 6-7 weeks, be sure you are using a clean spoon or knife every time you dip into it. Any residual breadcrumbs, fruit, or other ingredients may potentially cause bacteria to grow in your nut butter.
You can as well freeze nut butter. A great idea is to freeze your nut butter using an ice cube tray with a lid.
